Thailand

Boy has it been a while since I updated this thing. Just want to say that I did not stay in Alaska for the winter BUT I did get to go back home to Washington for a few weeks... Then off to paradise.

Thailand. Boy was this the greatest experience of my life so far. I got to spend a month in Thailand with two of my bestest pals Anna and Nicol. Nicol got to stay for two weeks and then it was just Anna and I for the rest of the month. There are seriously soooooo many stories I could tell you all but I can just save them for when I tell you in person ;) . In a nutshell this was the time of my life. Flying into Bangkok and from there I flew straight to Phuket. We stayed in Patong for about three nights then took a ferry over to Ko Phi Phi where we chilled on the beach for a few hours then headed over to Ton Sai. Ton Sai was a dream come true for me. I fell in love! We ended up staying for almost two weeks which was unexpected but if you saw this place I am sure you would too ;). It was so hard to leave..But once Nicol left Anna and I headed out for Chiang Mai where we spent the rest of our time. From there we flew back to Bangkok for a few days before we ended out trip. It was seriously sooooo hard to leave this place. There was so much more I wanted to explore. Soon enough I will be back :) I have to go back.

I seriously met some of the coolest people. Got to learn a new language. Met the Thai locals and fell in love with each and every one of them. Especially Fon <3 She would make our coffee or shakes every day in Ton Sai. Sweetest little lady EVER! Falling in love with how different life is over there. Life is so simple and so relax. I even had a life changing experience when I thought I was going to die! I got sooooo sick. It was so scary. But  I truly believe prayer is what helped me! That and lots of water because I seriously was puking blood and couldn't eat for so long. Anywayssss uhhhh besides that part everything was amazing haha.

Beaching it everyday. Eating THE BEST FOOD. Dancing. Relaxing. Playing games. Hammocks. Playing with hair. Exploring. Shopping. Tuk Tuk rides. Music. Bars on the beach. Friends. Love. Being tan. Sneaking into pools. Clubs. Monkeys. Kayaks. Slack line. Climbing. More love <3. Best friends. Ferry rides. Long tail rides. Bus. Airplanes. Coconuts. All the fruit you want. Sand. Culture. Squat toilets. Pharmacy. THAI HOT. Elephants. Parades. Light fest. Lady boys. Chang. Cockroaches. Cold showers. Fans. Bed nets. Thunder storms. Lightning. Trains. Caves. Palm trees. Cheap living. Simple living.  AH THERE IS SOOOO SOOO MUCH MORE TO THAILAND! I can't even begin to try to type it all out :)

Living life to the fullest. I told myself 23 is going to be a good year :) I am making things happen!!

My second home

Skagway, Alaska

It definitely is like a second home. My heart is here. Last year I came here and made such a good connection. The mountains. The people. The air. The water. Everything. I love nature! And it sure has a lot of it.

This summer I got the urge to get up and go back. Spontaneous? YES. I love it. I had the greatest few months in Wa and then I got to wrap up the summer in Ak. What more could I ask for?

These past two months I had such a great time and made so many great connections.

Again...I can say that I just love it here. No complaints.

So much love for new friends and of course the old! See you next year ;)

Going to Thailand!!

Ahhh today was a great day. I am in Alaska and decided that I am freaking going by myself to Thailand! Wanting to do the whole Southeast Asia trip in a little over a month. But get this. Tonight while buying my freaking ticket my besty Nicol said she wants to go!! So busted out her card and bought a ticket for two weeks there with me! Ahhhh. Then my other best Anna calls me from Washington and says she wants to come. Life is so good to me. So no I am not going solo. I am going with my bestest pals. Can. not. So get this. One week from now I will be flying back to Washington. Then like three weeks from then I will be in Thailand!! Ahhhh Can. not. WAIT!

SO HAPPY!

Makes you think..

Alaska.
Love the place so much I was almost set on staying there for a few years. Spontaneous at its finest I guess you could say. I am so good at it. I even had a two year plan on paper haha. Wanting to take the parts clerk job (mechanics assistant), save money, snowmobile, board, learn how to ski, ice climb, take classes in Haines, and anything snow related really. I have so much to learn with in two years. With in two years I was sure I would be able to ride the Chilkats and be smart about doing it. In two years I was sure I would have taken the classes I needed to become a mountaineer guide. I was imagining myself accomplishing so much with in these two years. It sounded like a dream! The only cons was having to imagine myself pretty much being alone through the winter in a very small Alaskan town all alone... I know I could do it. Sad to say things did not work out. My upcoming trip to Asia with my best friend was at the top of my list. If they were able to work around it, I for sure would have stayed. *tear*

But what was so good about this whole thing was I really had to ask myself what goals I really have.

Well lets just say I have a lot.

I have to chase my dreams.

Chilkoot Trail

The Chilkoot Trail is one of the routes the stampeders used to take back in the gold rush days out into the Yukon! Starting in a place called Dyea hiking 33 miles to Lake Bennett.  Look at those men on what they call the "Golden Staircase". So nuts to think that these men would carry hundreds of pounds on their backs over and over again. This was just part of the trail!

I arrived in Skagway August 5th at 4:30PM and started the trail at 6:30PM! My friend Nicol was right there with me and ready to troop it out! We hiked the first 12 miles in the dark to Sheep Camp that night. Arriving there around midnight super tired we just crashed out immediately. The next day we woke up late and made our way 14 miles to Lindeman City! The day after that we woke up and hiked the rest of the 7 miles and finished in Lake Bennett! Super quick but super fun. We even had great weather which a lot of people did not get. So blessed :)

There is so much more to this story but don't have much time to write! Here are some photos!

I would add more but I ran out of space! xo
