Haines Fair

July 29-31st

Wonder how much fun we had?

A little get away from Skagway..Two days of pure awesomeness. A group of us cool cats met up at the fast ferry and soon enough it would be taking us to Haines, AK (about a 45 min ferry ride).

 I almost didn't make it.

I had work that day, then a verrrry long long driver meeting that I had to tend to, AND THEN pack up, and bike over.

I was the last one there, but I made it .
(oops)

All that mattered is I made it. Once I got on, it was all smiles. It was like Christmas or something. It almost felt like we all had been freed from a cage. Which in a way we kind of were. The Skagway cage. You could feel the happiness. The vibes were so positive and intense.

Taking pictures, screams of joy, drinks flowing, talks about how amazing it is that we even live here, the most amazing views, blue sky, and so many beautiful people. I got to meet a lot of new people on the ferry as well as meet up with people I have already met.

Once we could see Haines everyone was getting even more excited.

We unloaded, grabbed our packs, and waited to grab our bikes. Once we gathered everything it was on. Finding a spot to camp went so quick..Of course ;) ..

Right on the beach
umm duh

haha Oh man it was amazing. We ended up finding a dry area big enough so we could camp with some others. Those others were the Temsco cats. Super legit helicopter guides :) . We set up camp, and immediately biked over to the fair. It was dark by then and we had no idea where to go. BUT of course we managed to make our way and find it.

BOOM.

We made it
:)

Live music, a ton of people, dancing, raging, hula hoops, all sorts of different stands about to close down, beer garden, and crazinesssss. It was seriously like my friends and I had found white castle or something haha. It was awesome. First stop, the beer garden. You get a bracelet, buy a cup, buy tickets, and each ticket equals one beer or wine of your choice. Tonsss of kegs.. So many decisions.

I was so excited.

Drinks started pourin, started chat chittin, and our feet started stomping! Dancin around, laughing, and drinkin.

THEN a dub step dj makes his way to the stage. All my buddies and I made our way out of the beer garden and to the front of the crowd. We danced alllll night. The dj ended up being from Seattle, WA.  I was estactic.

Once that was over we all kinda split up. Everyone ended up going to the Pioneer Bar and watched more live music and had more drinks. I ended up making my way with some other pals of mine. It was sooo dark out on a gravel hill and my buddy decides to jump on my handle bars and ride down it. We almost fell so hard! But we made it..We all made our way back to the most amazing house where the lawn was covered in tents. I was very excited for whatever was going to happen :) . I made my way to the back of the house and there was a fire, lots of people around, some were jammin, and some were just relaxing. There was a fire wood hot tub with a little cabin next to it, christmas lights, steps that went around a tree to make your way to the house, it had such a peaceful feeling, it was so rad. THEN all of a sudden I see an older man that works at a vendor I work with. I see him all the time when I work, as well as his daughter that is my age. He recognizes me and then introduces me to his wife. Turns out it is their home, as well as their daughter and son :) All of a sudden Jo (the daughter) is like "ALISHA?!" haha what a small world..I was pretty excited about it. Then the mom starts talking about how amazing it is when you make your way to a new place but no matter where you go you end up being around the people that are similar. Some how you find your way to where you should be. We kind of talked about it for a good twenty minutes. Not going to lie she was kind of a hippy, but it was so great. I was in heaven ;) .. Anyhow I ended up seeing two boys I had met when I first moved here. (So when I first got to Skagway I was hiking by myself and ran into these two guys hiking and running barefoot.) Well I got to re-meet them and had a good chat with them as well. I ended up meeting a ton of people and just enjoying the fresh air and then ended up going in the hot tub! It was sooooooo hot! BUT, so nice. I didn't stay in it too long because I had been drinking, Jo's mom made sure if we went in we were to drink water and only stay in it for a little bit. Great experience. After that it was getting late, the sun was starting to rise, and it was time for sleep. The thing was.. I had no idea of what street I needed to take to get back to my tent on the beach lol, so I ended up staying :) I was safe and that was all that mattered.

Saturday morning, literally 5 hours of sleep, I was so tired. I get woken up by my phone and it is Charlie letting me know him and all of our buddies are going to the Pioneer to have breakfast. (By the way I have no idea where that is lol) I get directions and make my way over. The Pioneer ends up being a bar and restaurant. I was so hungry and so stoked to get some good grub. We all started ordering caesars and bloody mary's. YUM*  We took up the entire bar, as well as everyone was so hungry and hung over we barley were even breathing stuffing our faces with eggs and toast.

 Gotta love it.

Once we were all done we had heard there was a parade. So Charles and I went and watched it, went to the grocery store and got munchies, then made our way back to our camp spot.

I laid around for a bit in my tent but then got ready and headed to the fair...

It was sooooo hot out :) I left the fair and went back to find some friends.. andddd on my way I found them.

Nicol and I ended up pairing up and I got to watch her do tie-die, we watched a ton of bands play, ate tons of great grub (including Indian tacos omgggg so good) , and ya, it was a great day.

We then headed back to camp for a bit and started to pre game with all of our friends, jamming to music, dancing around, thrown the football, and runnin around on the beach.

Once we got a but tipsy we were ready for round two. We biked it over to the fair, I ended up getting my face painted and yeah..It was a repeat of the night before BUT this time I was a little wore out so I made my way back to my tent and crashed out early.

The next morning Nicol, Crystal Day, and I made a fire and had tin foil breakfast...But of course that wasn't enough for us so we ended up meeting all of our friends at the Pioneer (AGAIN) for breaky. Haha Caesars anyone?

Once we were done there we had time to run around for a bit and then it was time to catch the ferry back to Skags at 3 pm.

WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE WEEKEND.

There was so much more to it but that is it in a nutshell :)

It felt so good to get away for a few..

I heart Haines
